"THE DAVE RAMSEY SHOW" CUTS TIES WITH SALEM COMMUNICATIONS

Affects 21 of Ramsey's more than 280 affiliate radio stations

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Nationally syndicated radio program, "The Dave Ramsey Show" will end its relationship with Salem Communications including the 21 Salem stations that carry the show. In a letter to Salem President and CEO Ed Atsinger and Executive Vice President and COO Joe Davis, Bill Hampton, Executive Vice President of "The Dave Ramsey Show," gave notice that August 10, 2006 will be the last broadcast day for the show on any Salem station.

"This decision was carefully yet confidently made," said Hampton. "Salem asked us to pay for our affiliate clears on their stations. After some consideration and negotiation, we decided that we would continue to do business as we've always done. We don't pay for clears."

Independently syndicated, "The Dave Ramsey Show" has already replaced four of the stations in key markets:
Dallas, Texas KLIF-AM 570, weekdays 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Houston, Texas KFNC-FM 97.5, weekdays 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Atlanta, Ga. WGST-AM 640, weekdays 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Louisville, Ky. WKJK-AM 1080, weekdays noon to 3:00 p.m. (beginning August 14)

"According to a number of Salem's managers we were the number one rated show and revenue producer in many of their markets. However, the leadership at Salem felt it necessary to treat us as if we owed them more," Hampton said. "It's unfortunate because the show is experiencing unprecedented momentum and exposure and we'll be sharing that success with new affiliates."

"We will always appreciate our time on Salem's stations," said Dave Ramsey. "They really gave us a platform to launch our latest level of success."

"The Dave Ramsey Show" and Cumulus Media recently agreed to a three year extension on flagship station WWTN-FM in Nashville, Tenn., and three year placements in Dallas, Houston and on KCMO-AM 710 in Kansas City, Mo.

"This move has resulted in tremendous growth for the show," said Hampton. "The addition of KLIF and KCMO alone replaced the listening audience of all 21 Salem stations."

Hosted by best-selling author, Dave Ramsey, the live radio talk show focuses on life, love and relationships and how they happen to revolve around money. The show has been aggressively syndicated for six years and is still heard by more than two million listeners weekly on more than 280 radio stations nationwide.

Listeners from across the country call in daily to ask Ramsey about: how to stop fighting with their spouse, how to teach their kids about money, how to save for retirement, how to kick a gambling habit, get out of debt and other life issues they are struggling with. Recent theme hours include "twentysomethings," "real estate," "women only," "plasectomies" and of course "Debt Free Friday" where listeners call in to tell Ramsey how much debt they have paid off and that they are now DEBT FREE!
