Deliver pizzas. The average wage for someone in pizza delivery is $7.57 an hour. Working even 10 hours a week at that rate will generate some serious vacation money. Don’t forget to smile and be friendly at the front door—it could mean bigger tips!
Be a rideshare driver. Sign up with a ridesharing company like Uber to give people a lift around town. You can set your own hours and drive as much as you want.
Do yard work. We’re in the thick of spring. Some of your older neighbors or relatives may like the idea of paying someone to mow their lawns, trim their shrubs, or spread their mulch. That someone is you! Get your green thumb on!
Working extra is a good way to build up a getaway fund, but it’s not the only way. Here are some areas where you can spend less for a short time.
3 Lifestyle Changes
Buy generic. There are tons of generic products you can purchase, from paper towels to over-the-counter-meds to trash bags. They cost less than the brand-name versions and you probably won’t notice the difference. Pass the savings on to your vacation account.
Cancel the cable. According to the Leichtman Research Group, monthly spending on pay TV service is $99.10. You may spend more or less than that. Either way, nix the cable for three months. All of those shows will still be there when you sign back up.

As long as you’re looking for ways to spend smarter, don’t forget to search for deals on the trip itself. Check out discount travel sites to compare prices on flights and hotel rooms. Sign up to get email and text offers from attractions in the area you want to visit. Those things make your money go even further.
