We love our churches around the country that are helping to change lives with Financial Peace University! We recently held a giveaway and honored the winners with a gift to assist in their ministry efforts. This note from a class coordinator tells how one church will put the gift to good use. Be inspired!
Let me begin by saying thanks again for the prize. I entered the giveaway entirely by accident. We had 14 families registered for our Financial Peace University (FPU) class that began on January 3. The week before the class began, we had 18 additional families sign up for the class! Therefore, I had to order additional kits (and was entered in the giveaway). At this point, we have 65 people (36 families) in the class in a church of 400.

I spoke with our senior pastor about what we will do with the prize money. The first bit of the prize money will be used as scholarships for three families already enrolled in FPU who need help paying for the class. The remainder of the money will be used to help pay for a remodel of our Jr. Church area. Our old building had the Jr. Church and Youth Sunday School in opposite ends of the building. Our new youth minister brought to our attention that this may be a concern for new families bringing small children into a new environment. Subsequently, we began a remodel so that the Jr. Church and Youth Sunday School are in the same area. Our church has always had a strong youth program in our community, and this prize money will help make that area more inviting and secure to new families. Thank you.
My wife and I took the FPU class in early 2007. In June 2008, we became debt-free except for the house. It has freed us up to do things on our house, do stuff for our family, and give when there is a need. This is my second FPU class to coordinate. It is very exciting to know that there are 36 more families that could be in a similar situation soon.
