How Giving Leads to Having More
In The Go-Giver, Joe is a get-it-done salesman who works hard but hasn’t been able to hit his goals. Desperate to land a big account, Joe reaches out to a successful consultant known as "The Chairman" to learn his trade secret. To his shock, The Chairman happily agrees to meet with him. When they do, Joe quickly realizes there is a lot more to business than just buying and selling—it’s also about giving.
Over the next week, The Chairman introduces Joe to a series of wealthy people who teach Joe all about the Five Laws of Stratospheric Success, including these two:
- The Law of Influence: Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place other people’s interests first.
- The Law of Receptivity: The key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving.
Joe starts to apply these laws to his work and his marriage. Soon he realizes how he can—and does—accomplish incredible things by changing his attitude from "What can I get?" to "How can I give?"
Accomplish incredible things by changing your attitude from "What can I get?" to "How can I give?"
When you have a desire to help others, serve them, and put their needs above yours, good things happen. Your reputation grows stronger. People smile when your name comes up. You attract customers. Before you know it, you’ll find the success you’re looking for—and then some!
