Fighting Tough Times
Remember that people like to do business with people they like. Relationships must be part of business development. If you're not part of a chamber of commerce, join your local one. If you are a member, increase your participation. Get to know the individuals who make business referrals to you. A member of my business development team was having a difficult time connecting with a hospital referral source. He brought up the subject of his son's football team and all the activities involved, and it clicked! His referral source started talking about her son's football team. He walked out with a good referral! It's about the relationship.
My Best Leadership Advice
Leadership is a skill that needs to be developed, and it's not a fast process. I would tell any new leader to be prepared to operate outside their comfort zone and to start getting as much training as possible. Becoming part of EntreLeadership is the best way to get on solid ground. Leadership positions can often make you feel alone. But when you step up and join hundreds of other leaders through EntreLeadership, your leadership role becomes the new normal. You have to love it!
My Biggest Takeaway From EntreLeadership Master Series
I was so impressed with the possibility of creating a team culture for my company. I have about 425 employees who can be as manageable, as Dave Ramsey says, "as herding cats." I wanted to start strengthening my leadership team first so they could then better direct their departments.
I want my leaders to help me create unity and pride in our services. We provide in-home health services to individuals who have real health needs. To be able to provide care with a great team and through a culture of excellence is my greatest goal.

What Inspired You to Go Into Business?
I wanted to make a positive impact on the lives of others, so I started my company to meet some of the health needs of the elderly and disabled. It didn't matter that I was not a nurse or that I had no medical experience at that time. I knew how to get things done. Being Hispanic, I also saw the need for healthcare, information and resources for the Spanish-speaking communities. Regardless of the culture, it can be extremely stressful when a family is faced with making healthcare decisions for an ill or aging loved one, especially when they have limited knowledge of how Medicare benefits work. With the right information and assistance, our services can help families take better care of their elderly loved one and know that we are with them doing what we know will make a difference.
