Every year, we talk to people who want to do more with their giving at Christmas time. Maybe they’ve just gotten on a plan to get out of debt and want to work giving into their budget. Maybe they’re completely out of debt and have decided they really want to step up the amount they donate every year.
But, sometimes, they just don’t know where to start.
If that sounds familiar to you, then we can point you in the right direction. Today on The Dave Ramsey Show, Dave highlighted three special organizations that represent the values and spirit of service we have in mind when we talk about a “Merry Different Christmas.”

Christmas isn’t just about giving—it’s about people. And these three organizations are dedicated to helping people.
So that’s why, if you’re looking for an organization in which to make a difference this year, the following three nonprofits are a great place to start:
This outstanding nonprofit is empowering communities in Africa to work together to fight against the HIV/AIDS and water crises. Blood:Water Mission has helped provide clean water to more than 800,000 people in 11 different countries. They’ve also opened three HIV clinics, tested 40,000 people for the disease, and currently have 800 clients in treatment. These guys are making a serious difference in Africa. Since 1983, Mercy Ministries’ free-of-charge, voluntary Christian residential program has served young women ages 13 to 28 who are struggling with life-controlling issues—such as eating disorders, self-harm, drug and alcohol addictions, depression and unplanned pregnancy. Many of these girls have been physically and sexually abused, and some have been victims of sex trafficking. Mercy Ministries of America has residential homes in Monroe, LA; Nashville, TN; St. Louis, MO; and Sacramento, CA. Find out more about Mercy Ministries.
