Spending The Blow Money

Josh and his wife are at odds over how to handle the blow money. She is more frugal than he is, and he wants to put his overtime toward his blow money. Dave says no way.

QUESTION: Josh in Nevada and his wife are at odds over how to handle the blow money. She is more frugal than he is, and he wants to put his overtime work toward his blow money. Dave says no way and tells him why.

ANSWER: No way should you do that. You don’t work overtime for your little-boy wants. You do it for the good of your family. That’s not to say you can’t have blow money. If I’m working an 80-hour week, I may treat myself somewhere in the midst of that, so my blow money might reflect that. But it doesn’t reflect the sense that, because I work extra, I get to play more while the rest of the family suffers. I won’t be like that toward my family.
