Don't Jeopardize Your Marriage With Co-Signing
Genevieve has a husband whose family wants him to co-sign on a car for them. She thinks it’s an invitation to disaster.
QUESTION:Genevieve has a husband whose family wants him to co-sign on a car for them. She thinks it’s an invitation to disaster and asks Dave how to talk to him about not doing this, especially since they are just on Baby Step 2 and this could affect them long-term. Dave does more than talk about this one.
ANSWER:I think this is a time where you stand in the driveway and don’t let him drive out. You say, “No. If you go over my head when I am completely opposed to it, you’re putting our marriage in jeopardy. I am not going to go along with this, and you’re not going to do it and stay married to me.”
This could bankrupt your family and cause your husband to never speak to his parents again. Do not allow this. Banks want co-signers because the people getting the loans can’t pay the bills. Don’t co-sign.
This is stupid, and it’s not okay!
