Ask Dave

Making Too Little

Dale makes too little as a truck driver, and Dave thinks that he has a career crisis.

QUESTION: Dale and his wife have no idea to get started on their money plan. He’s a truck driver who makes about $20,000 a year. He doesn’t have a money crisis … it’s a career crisis.

ANSWER: You and your wife can’t eat and build wealth on this salary. It’s only a little better than being unemployed. You’ve got to address your career before you can make some headway with these debts you have. You don’t need to be driving anymore in this job and you need to change careers.

Spend the next two months finding what you want to do with your life, or drive for someone else. Do not accept that all this stuff is happening to you. Start happening to it. You’re not stuck and it’ll be painful, but staying there is not an option.
