Faith Pledge Release

Daisy made a faith pledge to her church, but then ran into a good kind of problem.

QUESTION: Daisy asks what she should do when she makes a faith pledge to her church, but has since committed to getting out of debt. She’s feeling guilty about not meeting the pledge, and asks what to do.

ANSWER: A faith pledge has to do with God providing the money to you to make it happen. When I was going broke, I made a faith pledge before I went broke and couldn’t follow through. I sat down with a pastor and asked to be released, and he released me. Sit down with your pastor and explain that you are getting out of debt, so you can be better givers in the future, and you need your money for that. You should do that. A pastor that won’t do that has a theological problem.
