Magazine Subscription Equals Hard Lesson

A magazine subscription for one listener's son ended up costing him more than he thought.

QUESTION: Dana’s 17-year-old son didn’t pay for a magazine subscription, and now he owes $12 or he’ll be turned over to collections. How should she handle this? Should she make him pay for a lesson learned?

ANSWER: He ordered the magazine, and you should teach him to have integrity and pay the bill. He took the magazine and he needs to pay him for it. It’s a good lesson to learn … it’s called keeping your word. It’s a little late to be learning it at age 17, but it’s still a good lesson to learn.
