Ben on Facebook wants to know if timeshares are a good investment. Dave thinks it's a horrible investment.
QUESTION: Ben on Facebook wants to know if timeshares are a good investment. Dave thinks it’s a horrible investment.
ANSWER:Timeshares are awful! No! They have a 97% dissatisfaction rate among consumers. That means 97 people out of 100 who buy timeshares hate them. Besides that, why would you want to go on vacation in the exact same place every single time? Boring! No.
Here’s the deal. You’re paying as if you’re buying something, and all you’re doing is pre-renting your hotel room for the next 82 years. That’s all you’re doing. And there’s no market for them. You can’t resell them. You can’t even give them away. Try donating them. It’s almost impossible. Nobody—even charities—wants to take them. They realize they’re a liability, not an asset. It’s a mess. Timeshares are stinky.
