Do I Need Earthquake Insurance?
Jonathan asks if earthquake insurance is a good idea.
QUESTION: Jonathan on Twitter asks if earthquake insurance is a good idea.
ANSWER: If you’re in an area that has earthquakes. An example might be California. I live in Nashville. I don’t have earthquake insurance nor do I need earthquake insurance. I’m not going to buy it. If I lived in California, I would have earthquake insurance—no question about it. And I would have all kinds of hurricane coverage if I lived in Florida, too. That would be flood and any kind of possible different angle that the insurance company uses to get out of paying the claim. I’ve got them all covered in case of the hurricane coming in. But if you’re in California, yeah, you need earthquake insurance. You’re on a fault line, dude. It shakes and trembles over there.
