Writing Equals Money
Joseph called SunTrust to settle an old debt, but they won't put the settlement in writing. Should he still make a deal with them?
QUESTION: Joseph from My Total Money Makeover called SunTrust to settle an old debt, but they won’t put the settlement in writing. Should he still make a deal with them? Dave says no way, because there’s no proof they accepted the deal.
ANSWER: No, because you have no proof that they accepted this. They hold all the proof. You can tell SunTrust’s collections department is lying by the fact that their mouth is moving. The way I would respond to that ridiculous statement is, “Well, I’m sorry. We’re kind of at loggerheads here, because I have a policy not to accept settlements and give out money unless there’s a settlement accepted in writing.”
Money? You want some? Give it to me in writing. No writing, no money. Writing equals money.
