It Doesn't Erase Your Credit History

Keri tried to cancel a credit card, but the rep told her it would cancel out her credit history. Is that true?

QUESTION: Keri on Twitter tried to cancel a credit card, but the rep told her it would cancel out her credit history. Is that true?

ANSWER: Liar, liar, pants on fire! Credit card rep is a moron liar! No, it doesn’t wipe out 14 years of credit history. That’s ridiculous. Your credit history is your credit history. By the way, your credit history doesn’t last 14 years. It lasts seven years. All information that is seven years old or older comes off of your credit bureau report except Chapter 7 bankruptcy, which stays on 10 years. But you don’t have a 14-year credit history. I’m sorry. It’s not there. What you have there is a desperate and lying scummy credit card rep.
