QUESTION: Laura on Facebook is getting married in October and needs to book her honeymoon ASAP. She won’t be able to pay for it up front but can in a few paychecks. Her travel agents recommended a 0% interest credit card. What kind of card should she get?
ANSWER: You just went on Dave Ramsey’s Facebook page and asked about getting a credit card? You really just did that, didn’t you? You should probably listen to the show or read a book or something, and that will let you know that we don’t believe in credit cards. There’s not a single credit card on the planet I would ever recommend under any circumstances.
They are pretty good for opening a locked door and some of them will scrape the frost off of a windshield. But that’s about all they’re good for. If you can’t afford to pay for it, you can’t afford it. Save money, work extra, go on a honeymoon you can afford, and you’ll be all right. We did 30 years ago. We drove all the way to Key Largo. We didn’t know what an airline ticket was because we couldn’t afford it. It’s a different generation and a different world.
It’s amazing what you can do when you decide you don’t have the money.
