Know Where To Go

For Braden, it's down to 2 college choices. For him, the choice is hard. For Dave, it's a no-brainer.

QUESTION: Braden is 18 years old and home-schooled. His Dad works at a college, so he will receive free tuition at one school that’s close by, but there’s another school that is geared towards what he wants to and is completely Christian. However, it’s more expensive and farther away. Based on his presentation, Dave thinks this is a no-brainer.

ANSWER: It sounds like you’ve made up your mind to go to the expensive school, the way you’ve presented the case, and that’s all right. All the positives were on the first school, and the negatives were on the second. You want to go out there, and I think being away from home would be good for you. I think that does some good for you as an adult growing up and getting out from under Mom and Dad.

You need to be under no illusion that no thing is completely Christian. You’ll meet some of the wildest characters at Christian colleges. It is a nice feature that you’ll get some spiritual support. I’d do the expensive Christian school, but I’ll work my way through there. If you asked me if it’s worth it to go into debt over, I’d say no. But you can work and make this happen.
