Use the Golden Rule
Stan makes a large commission leasing cars, but he would never lease one himself. Should he quit? Dave believes that he should.
QUESTION: Stan on Twitter makes a large commission leasing cars, but he would never lease one himself. Should he quit? Dave believes that he should.
ANSWER: I think you should find something you can do with your life that you’re proud of and that you would sell with great pride and joy to your family and friends. If you can’t feel that good about selling it, you shouldn’t be selling it.
Do you have to quit today? No. I think you need to look for something else and make an adjustment in your career track. That sounds very highbrow. It is highbrow. It is a matter of integrity, and it is a proper way to live your life—to not sell to people that you don’t think is good. It’s an integrity issue at the end of the day. Do unto others as you’d have them do unto you. Treat other people like you’d want to be treated.
Find something to do in your life that you can do with excellence, pride and a sense of higher calling. You will make more money over the scope of your life doing things that you love and things that you are passionate about than you will doing things you hate and you have this sense that you’re ripping people off.
