Stop Investing to Pay Off House?

Joe wonders about stopping investing to pay off the house within a year.

QUESTION: Joe’s wife wants to stay home with the kids. They are debt free except for the home and are on track with investing. Is it all right to stop investing for the next year to pay off their house in a year?

ANSWER: I would do it.  You're so close to paying off your house you could treat it as a debt in Baby Step 2.  I would stop investing, knock this house out and move on from there.  I can't believe you guys are only 35 years old!
