He also wants people to learn a valuable lesson when it comes to doing stupid things with money. Dave on Social In-SecurityDave reads and rants about a Business Week article on the current state of the Social Security and Medicare systems. Talking about GodQuestion: Daniel asks Dave why he advocates his belief in religion for financial crisis for those who don't believe in religion. Dave is happy to answer. Dave Ramsey's advice: I don't think that religion is the answer there. I think the question is why do I advocate God? I believe there is a God with everything that's within me, and that he loves us and He's in control. That's my value system and it's how I approach every equation. I start with the viewpoint that God is crazy about me, because I'm one of his kids. For someone who doesn't believe that, that's certainly all right. When someone calls me and says they are behind on their mortgage, I don't say to get your Bible out and read it. I tell them how to get straightened out on their mortgage. If they ask me using Christian terminology, I'll answer using Christian terminology. If someone is not a person of faith, I won't beat them up with this, but I won't back away from God because someone else doesn't think He's real. Personal finance is 80% behavior and only 20% head knowledge. I meet very few people who would disagree with that statement. To have a discussion about behavior modification and leave out relationships, emotions, psychology and spirituality would be naive. That's not my opinion, but a logical and well-rounded view of the facts. The answer to your question is that I advocate the belief in God as the answer to almost all your questions, because it will take you places that you want to go. |
