Question: Andrew's wife went back to school and they are barely scraping by. She wants to buy their puppy a Halloween costume and he thinks it's a waste of money. You won't believe Dave's tone in answering this.

Dave Ramsey's advice: You're broke and you're in school, so you don't need to buy a Halloween costume for the dog. THE DOG DOESN'T NEED A FREAKIN' HALLOWEEN COSTUME!!! Only in America would this be a concern. If you have $10 million and want to buy doggie a diamond necklace, then buy one. You're in college and you have debt!

I agree 100% with you. What in the world makes some people tick? Andrews wife needs a class in
common sense and financial planning. I just can't imagine people thinking this way.

I have dogs, and I've never purchased a dog costume in my life. However, I think those are the kinds of things that blow money is budgeted for. It's those little silly things that nobody else may understand, but may make you happy in the middle of a miserable trek out of debt. If you're out of your budgeted blow money for the month, then you're out of luck.
