The cost of smoking

Question: Julie is on Baby Step 2 and has paid off 5 of 6 debts. She not only changed her financial habits though, she quit smoking as well! She asks Dave to give her stats on how much money she will be saving.

Dave Ramsey's answer: Dave talks about how much she'll save on health insurance and how she'll add years to her life, but then he moves on to figure out how much she'll save simply by not buying cigarettes everyday. Five dollars a day saved on cigarettes over the next 40 years will turn into $1,764,715!!!

Glad that Julie will feel better both healthwise AND financially. I teach high school and I wish that this aspect of smoking would keep more kids from starting!

Good luck, Julie!
