How do I live?

Question: Rachel and her husband are debt-free. They are having problems with their apartment (cleanliness, animals, etc.) If they move, they'll have to pay double the rent. Dave tells her about patience tax.

Dave Ramsey's answer: You guys are smart just because you're thinking about this and having a plan. You've done great to get out of debt, and now it's a matter of how long you are willing to hold your nose while you save up money for a house. If your situation is so bad that skunks are living under the house you are living in, then moving isn't a bad idea. You have three options ... rent for $550 a month like you're doing, rent for double that, or look for a better deal.

If you're questioning it, you probably shouldn't, at least not without a lot of careful planning and thinking.
I would suggest either try to end the "skunk" issues where you are
already or find a new place to rent until you can save up money.

I own a nice house in a nice neighborhood and have skunk problem because my neighbors leave cat food out constantly. Solve the critter problem where you are at and don't and focus on the goal.
