Access is Denied - Windows Vista

In order to run the Dave Ramsey software with Windows Vista, you will need to adjust certain settings.
  1. Right click on the Personal Finance Software shortcut on the desktop and click Open File Location. A folder should open.
  2. Locate the 'Personal Finance Software' file in the folder. This file may also be called 'Personal Finance Software 5.2' or 'test'.
  3. Right-click on the file and select Properties, then select the Compatibility tab.
  4. Check the box at the bottom that says Run this program as an Administrator.
    • If you are not able to check this box because it is greyed out, please see the next article.
  5. Click 'OK'.
If this does not help, please verify that the box is checked, then try the steps below.
  1. Open up Internet Explorer which is easily accessible from the Start button.
  2. Go to Adobes Flash Player download page here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
  3. Download and install Adobe Flash Player. You do not need to install any of the optional add-ons.

Run this program as an adminstrator is greyed out - Windows Vista

If the Run this program as an administrator box is greyed out then User Account Control has been disabled. The Personal Finance Software requires UAC to be enabled in order for it to run.
  1. Click on the Start button in the lower left hand corner of the screen.
  2. Click on Control Panel. The Control Panel window should appear.
  3. Click on Control Panel Home on the left hand side.
  4. Type 'UAC' into the search box and press enter. This should bring up a link for Turn User Account Control (UAC) on or off.
  5. Click on the link, then check the box that says Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer and click the OK button.
  6. You will need to reboot your computer after making this change.
  7. You should be able to check the box mentioned in the above steps.

Class Not Registered - Windows Vista

This error is the result of checking other things on the compatibility tab other than Run this program as an administrator as described above. Please run through the Access is Denied steps above and un-check anything other than what was mentioned.

Library Not Registered - Windows 7

The Personal Finance Software is NOT compatible with Windows 7

Missing Library - ATL80.DLL

Are you getting the following error?
    Executable C:\Program Files\Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace Financial Software\test.exe' had the following unrecoverable error: Couldn't find library ATL80.DLL (required by C:\PROGR~1\MICROS~2\Office12\GrooveUTIL.DLL) Please ensure that it is installed.
This error is caused by a compatibility issue with Microsoft Groove, an application that is not often used and is included with Microsoft Office 2007. The Dave Ramsey Personal Finance software is not compatible with Microsoft Groove.

I just purchased the software. How do I get it?

A link to download your product is included on your order confirmation email. Please refer to that email to download your product. The link that you need to click on is probably titled InstantAccess.zip or ClickHereToDownload.exe.

What does this software do?

This software provides you with the opportunity to interact with the financial forms found in Dave Ramsey’s materials. You’ll also have exciting calculators that will estimate future values of your investments, calculate early pay-offs, and more. This software includes other features such as a checkbook registry that will help you reconcile your checkbook and an informative financial glossary. Find out more

Where can I get this software?

The Personal Finance Software is available as both a download or a physical CD-ROM in our online store. You can also order the CD-ROM version through our Customer Care department at 888.22.PEACE.

Unfortunately, the downloadable version is only available through our Online Store.

Does this software connect to my bank accounts through the Internet?

No.

Is the Personal Finance Software Mac compatible?

Not at this time.

Can I resize the Dave Ramsey software window?



Unfortunately no. The software was optimized for 800x600 resolutions which was the norm at the time the software was built.

Can I transfer Personal Finance Software data from an old system to a new one?

While the software was not designed to do this, some people have been successfull by following these steps:
  1. Open 'My Computer' on the old system, and navigate to the following folder location:

      C:\Program Files\Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace Financial Software

    (Note: If you have saved the computer to a drive other than C:, you will need to start at that location, i.e. for drive X: navigate to X:\Program Files\Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace Financial Software)

  2. Copy the following files to a storage device such as a CD/DVD, Jump Drive, or Network Drive.

      DaveRamsey.mdb
      DebtSnowball.mdb

  3. Paste the files copied in Step 2 above to the C:\Program Files\Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace Financial Software folder on your new system.

  4. Your data should now be available for use on the new system.
