RAMSEY AWARDS THREE WINNERS
OF HIS GIVING CHALLENGE $5,000 FOR THEIR CHARITY
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nationally syndicated radio talk show host, Dave Ramsey, issued a challenge to his listeners, beginning in November, to give like no one else during the holiday season. Over the past several weeks, listeners were directed to Ramsey’s website where they submitted their story about how they give of their time and money throughout the year and especially during the holiday season. Nearly 7,500 stories were submitted to The Giving Challenge representing more than $9 million donated and more than 68,000 hours given. Three of the stories were chosen as winners of The Giving Challenge and were surprised by members of Ramsey’s team with a $5,000 check for their charity.
The winners of The Giving Challenge were:
- Rayme Dorsey of Champaign, Ill. Dorsey organizes an annual golf tournament benefiting Crisis Nursery in honor of her best friend who was killed in a car accident two years ago at Christmas. Crisis Nursery is dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
- JV Cotterell of Durham, N.C. Cotterell founded Triangle Special Hockey to eliminate barriers that keep special needs kids from getting involved in hockey.
- Alisha Ballinger of Knoxville, Tenn. Ballinger works for Knoxville Inner-City Kids Outreach which provides after school programs and service projects for inner city children ages K through 12.
