QUESTION: Shannon’s husband has a variable income, and she doesn’t know how to make a budget for it. What should she do?
ANSWER: You'll need to prioritize your budget items each month. Food, Utilities, Shelter...all that is most important and must be paid. After that, if the money is there to use, spend it on the other items you have listed. If the money is not there, at least you've paid the most important items first.
I also suggest starting up an account to help even the months out. When you have a good month, set a little aside to help out in the lean months.
