Why teach FPNG? top
In a 2000 study by the Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy, the national organization found that 57% of high school seniors flunked a basic test in personal finances. Even more staggering is that 10% of students tested received a “C” or better. These studies and others indicate that students are graduating without the simple abilities to balance their checkbook, live within their means, or plan for their retirement and future.

Financial Peace was designed by teachers for teachers and provides comprehensive lesson plans, tests, quizzes, discussion questions and activities to prepare you for each lesson.

Do I need to be a financial wizard to teach this material? top
No. We teamed up with educators and parents to adapt our materials for the classroom. We offer free teacher training and academic advisors to help teachers easily incorporate these materials into their course structure. The teacher's pack comes with videos, CD clips, and loads of info to help you work with your students.

Our team of academic advisors is available to work with educators throughout the school year. Teachers may contact us via phone or email. Teachers using Financial Peace are encouraged to frequently visit our website for additional activities and newsletters. Additionally, we offer regular training sessions and in-services.

What if my school cannot afford this curriculum? top
This is a great opportunity for community involvement. Many businesses look for various ways to partner with schools and consider it an investment in their city’s future. In addition to financing part of or the entire program, many times these business leaders are great special guests for your classes and can offer students a practical glimpse into the real world. Schools providing this course as an elective can also charge a lab fee to cover the cost of student materials. If all else fails, bake sales and car washes never hurt.
