I unexpectedly lost my job. It was quite an emotional blow. Thanks to Dave, Financial Peace University, paying off $98,000 of debt in one year (I sold EVERYTHING, including the house that was on my last nerve), and starting my emergency fund, financially I was fine!

Financially speaking, I had time to heal before going back to work, but I was working the next week! I had two job offers within 2 hours of leaving the previous office!

My severance pay just cushioned my emergency fund. I'm still working on Baby Step 3, saving 3 to 6 months living expenses. I'm also meeting with an Endorsed Local Provider to roll over my 401(k).

Being debt free sure made it easy to walk away from a dead-end job that I should have left before but couldn't because I was afraid due to the debt! I make more at the new job and am getting the company-sponsored training I longed for at the previous position!

This is the first time in my adult life I've been completely debt free. I'm looking forward to living with a 0 FICO score! I no longer worship at the alter of FICO! I hope to teach my teenage son so he doesn't do stupid with zeroes!
