My husband I own a small boat, jet-ski, dock, and hoist shop in southeast Michigan, where the economy has been struggling more than anywhere in the country. We pride ourselves in quality work at fair prices and in running our business with integrity and honesty. He has been growing the business for six years, and it has exploded exponentially each summer. We are blessed to be busier than ever and are happy to say that one of our biggest problems is having too much work with which to keep up! We both have a love for the water, and with all the lakes in our area, we want to help other people enjoy it too. My husband, Evan, has been fixing jet skis for over sixteen years, since the age of twelve. He has God-given talents as a mechanic, an effective communicator for interfacing with customers, and as an organized book- and record keeper. This skill set provides him with an edge when it comes to running a business. My career as a teacher offers me the availability in my schedule to help out during our busiest season, SUMMER! At this point our business is at a crossroad: we either need to hire more help, or downsize. As of now we have insufficient manpower to complete the workload. Employees are working 60-85 hours a week! We would like to expand, and we want to get to the point at which the business is more self-sufficient, but we are facing several challenges as we consider growth. While we are willing to take risks and a leap a faith, we want to make sure we have the resources and organization needed. That is why we are perfect candidates for EntreLeadership. We are young newlyweds, working diligently at aligning every aspect of our lives with God’s will including our marriage, our finances, and our careers. This spring we completed Financial Peace University and have progressed in our financial goals using the Biblical principles Dave teaches. We have paid off over $20,000 of our debt and plan to be debt-free in just two years! The EntreLeadership training would significantly help us achieve the following business goals: 1) To hire skilled employees who are dependable so that we can better delegate work and develop more organized production processes for better efficiency. We want to be a business that both our employees and our customers can count on. 2) To wisely train and invest in our employees so that they both adequately add to work production and feel valued. We want our employees to be equipped and empowered. 3) To move to a larger facility, which means greater earning. We want to serve our community better by providing them with even faster, more efficient service. We want our business to be debt-free and able to give back to our neighbors! Send Evan and Kara Connell to the EntreLeadership Master Series and make us masters of small business!!!
