Is Counselor Training ideal for me?

Counselor Training is ideal for professionals in need of continuing education units, ministry-minded individuals seeking to help others in their church or nonprofit organization, Financial Peace University coordinators hoping to better assist their classes, military personnel wanting to assist soldiers and their families—and anyone else who wants to learn more about financial counseling from seasoned professionals.

What qualification or experience should I have to apply for Counselor Training?

The only qualification is that you have the heart of a teacher and are passionate about helping people walk through their specific situations. You must submit a completed application and be approved in order to attend the training. The completion of Financial Peace University is highly recommended, but is not required.

How and when do I pay for Counselor Training?

We will contact you within 24–48 hours after receiving your completed application. If your application is approved, we will email you an invoice. Payment in full via debit card, check by phone, or check by mail will be due within seven business days.

Do you provide support after I leave the training?

We are available to answer your questions or discuss issues that might come up after Counselor Training. Each counselor will receive a free membership to MyTotalMoneyMakeover.com (MyTMMO), the subscription-based portion of Dave’s website.

MyTMMO contains a forum specifically for counselors to share information with each other. You'll also have access to a password-protected site. You'll be able to exchange ideas with other counselors, get additional education, and more.

What can I do with Counselor Training?

Offer hope to everyone—from the financially secure to the financially distressed—using Financial Peace principles and the counseling process you will learn in Counselor Training. Most attendees choose to use this information as a ministry in the church, in the military, as part of a nonprofit outreach, or for personal enrichment.

Do you offer group discounts for multiple attendees from one church or organization?

Yes. We do offer discounts for groups of three or more attending from one church or organization. For more information on group discounts contact an advisor at 877.378.2667, or at counselortraining@daveramsey.com.

If my spouse and I want to go through Counselor Training together, do we need to fill out two applications?

No. Please submit one application. There is space on the application for both of your required information. We do offer a training fee discount for the spouse.

Can I charge people for my counseling services?

Yes, you can. The "how, when and where" are up to you. We do not provide any business-related training, including how much to charge or how to market and set up a business.

Do you provide training on how to turn counseling into a business?

No. Counselor Training is 100% focused on teaching you the counseling process we use in our office.

Can I promote myself as a Dave Ramsey counselor?

After attending the training, you may say that you attended and completed Dave Ramsey's Counselor Training. But whenever you use Dave's name, this disclaimer must also appear: Completion of this training does not make me an employee or agent of Dave Ramsey, nor give me the right to speak for or bind him, nor constitute an endorsement by him. You can not represent yourself as certified, endorsed or approved.

Will my name be listed on daveramsey.com?

After you complete Dave Ramsey's Counselor Training, you will not be listed on daveramsey.com.

Where is Brentwood, Tennessee?

Brentwood, Tennessee, is south of Nashville 20 miles from Nashville International Airport.

What are CPE credits?

Continuing Professional Education. We have been approved by the NASBA (National Association of State Board of Accountancy) to offer CPE Credits for CPAs (Certified Public Accountants).

Do you offer scholarships?

No. We get this request so frequently that there’s simply no way we could choose who should receive a scholarship and who should not. We provide counselor training about every six weeks, though. So we’ll see you here when the time is right for you.

What is your cancellation policy?

The amount you will be refunded depends on how early you cancel and whether or not you transfer payment to a future event.

• If you cancel and do not transfer to another session, $500 of the amount you paid is non-refundable.
• If you cancel within 14 days of your scheduled Counselor Training, and transfer to another session, $500 of the amount you paid is non-refundable. The rest will apply to the new session.
• If you cancel 15 or more days ahead of time, and transfer to another session, all of the amount you paid will apply to the new session.
