We're Changing Our Lives With Financial Peace

My husband and I had been married for four years, both making good incomes, and we actually had no credit card debt when we started Financial Peace University (FPU). We did, however, have a home equity loan totaling $38,000 that we had put our car payments on.

I was attending Sunday school at my church, and every Sunday when I went to class I would see these huge numbers of debt on the board being paid off. I thought, Gosh, it would be awesome to have all this paid off and actually have some money to spend and not feel guilty about it. So one Sunday, I asked one of my fellow classmates what the class was about, and he told me about FPU.

The FPU class was already in session when I asked, and they had already had three classes, but he enthusiastically told me to come, I could just catch up. They allowed me to take the first three DVDs home to watch and catch up. I started watching thinking, How boring is this going to be? My husband walked in the room when the first DVD started, and by the time it ended, we were hooked! He looked up and said, "We're going to watch the next one now, right?"

All that being said, 24 months later, we are DEBT-FREE! We almost have our six months of expenses in the bank, too. Thank you so much! Because of God and Dave, we have financial peace.
